Surrealism, food and Christmas!!

OK you two - don't trash the house while we're out!!!

We're on another expedition!

First it was up to the bus stop.....

And we didn't have to wait long for a bus either!  They got a CD!

We got off here at the train station!!

They got their tree up too!!

When our train was announced we all ran on and got a window seat!!  They got a floppy disc!

We like window seats!!

Seems like a nice day......

But then it got rather grey..... but we saw a rainbow!  Can you see it?!?!

We're going past Gatwick Airport here...

There's the front of our train, going round the curve!!!!

And we got off the train here!  Can you guess where it is?!?!

It's Blackfriars!!!

We tied a floppy disc to the rail outside the station!!!

It's very pretty here - the tide's out too!  We went mudlarking here with Sandy Bear once!  That was brill!

We had a walk along the South Bank and left a CD for someone to find....

And left a poppy out too!

We're at the Tate Modern!  We're going to see an expedition!!!

We went in through the Turbine Hall....

And got a ticket for half price on our Art pass!!!

We had a look at a sculpture first....

and then went up to the third floor.  Oh, there it is!!

And we went into an expedition that was all about Chilean Resistance Artists!!!

They had lots of interesting stuff in here....

They made mini books out of found stuff!!!

There's one with feathers in it!

That's a pretty one!

They even made paintings out of fabric!

This was really interesting..... but this isn't Dora Maar......

We went in the wrong expedition room!!!!!!!
So we went into the REAL Dora Maar expedition room!!

The first room was about her advertising photography work, and then there were lots of street photography showing poverty in Barcelona, Paris and London.  Then there were her surrealist photographs which were a bit..... odd!...... then it turns out Dora Maar was Picasso's mistress in Paris for 15 years!!  This was when he was painting Guernica.  After that, she concentrated on her own paintings - the one above is abstract, paint on photo.

This one's kinda interesting too!!

And that one's an ink picture.

After that, we went and enjoyed the view....

It's pretty huh?!  We had a good look round the gift shop - wanted to buy a Dora Maar book but the cheapest one they had was £30!!!  So we got a different book and a bunch of postcards instead!  (We'll show you later!)

Then we used the facilities and left them a CD!

And then we went off for lunch, leaving more CDs on the way!!

And a poppy windchime!

They look kinda pretty hung up, huh?!

There's the Globe theatre!!

We left a dangly CD near there!

And then went to Tas Pide for lunch!!

They got a poppy too!

We got olives and a yoghurty dip with some warm flatbread!  Yum!!

And then we got red lentil soup (schlurp!) and a fizzy drink!

Followed by a chicken casserole with funky rice.  That was PROPER YUM!!!

After that we went for another walk....

There's the Shard over there!!

Oh!  Clink Prison??  We're not getting locked up are we?

No - we're leaving a floppy disc there!

What's down here??

It's a wine shop!!  Andrea went and bought a bottle!

Then we went down to the muriel.......

.....and then went into Borough Market!

They had a Christmas tree with dried oranges on!

It's interesting around here, you know!

They got pretty decorations here too!!

And came out the other side!

Then we went to the bus stop....... BUS BINGO ALERT!!

We got the number 17 bus!!!

We went over the Thames here!

The other side of the Millenium Bridge is down that road!

Ooooo!

And then we got off here!

Oh that's pretty!

It's Kings Cross Station!

Oh wow!!!  Giant paper chains!

We left another poppy there!

Now THAT just bugs my OCD!!!!

That's the Christmas tree in the British Library courtyard!

We decided to help decorate it!

Doesn't that look much better???!

And then it was time to go home!

But we stopped in Fortnums on the way!!!  (We'll show you later!)

That's the Laduree concession.  We'd run out of money though.

Oh!!!  It's a Christmas Tower!!!

Here's our station!

And we got another window seat!!

Here's Blackfriars Station again!

Chocolate??  Honeycomb chocolate!
YUM!!!

And we're off...!

We left a floppy disc on this train.

And here we are back at Brighton!!

That's their tree again!  We've seen loads of Christmas trees today!

Then it was over to the bus stop to get the bus home.

We saw the Christmas lights on the way home too!

Fun huh?!

and then it's just down here.....

And we're home!!!  That's the book and postcards we got at the Tate Modern!

And a big piece of tissue paper!  HURRAY!!

That's the bottle of wine Andrea got!
We don't mind.  We got to go to London today!

That's the chocolate we got at Borough Market!
It's yum!

And those are Macadamia nut bis kwits (our favourite!) and a tin of Christmas Nutcracker bis kwits (they're new!) from Fortnum and Masons!
 What a brilliant day out!!!
