A Proper Art Box

A long, long time ago, Andrea inherited this box from her granny (on Mum's side) and had it stashed away in a drawer for yonks.

Turns out it's a proper real Winsor & Newton box, the artists' paint people!

Still has the original labels inside too - from the various paint splatters still there, we think it was used for oil paint which we don't use.  So we're going to store our watercolour paints in it.

There's even a lower drawer in it - we might put some watercolour paper in there.

Spiffy huh?!?!

Collected a package....

We collected a package yesterday, it was a late birthday present for Andrea, more handmade paint from an artisanal shop in Latvia!  Six new colours and ten dot samples......!!!

They put it in a larger box so we can put all the other paints we have from them in there as well!!

And that's our entire collection!!!

Late present!!

We got a box in the mail today......!

It's for wild and free people.  That's us isn't it??!!

OOOooooo!!!  We think this is Andrea's birthday present from Latvia....

We got some spot samples of paint (there was another one hidden with the main present!)

A box of watercolour paint!!!

So seven spot samples and six pans of paint!  Hurrah!!!

And we tried them out in our sketchbook!!

We got a package!!!

We got a package the other day, all the way from Latvia!!

Apparently it's for wild and free people!!

Well I guess that's us then.....!

OOOOooooo!!!  This looks interesting!!

OH!!!  There's some paint spot cards and a tin of something!!

On the bottom of the box, it said that!!!

Wow!!  Six sample spot cards of watercolour paint and six pans of watercolour paint in a pretty tin!!!

They're all handmade paint too, from DeepDeepLight, which is why you can't get them in high street shops!!

Of course, the first thing we did was try them out!!!  These are the sample spot card paints

Then we tried the pan colours - the five horizontal stripes plus the white vertical stripe (which is zinc white)

What can you do with.......?

A tin of metallic watercolour paints, a box of Derwent inktense colours, a 3 x 4 inch pad of Hahnemuhle bamboo paper, a tube of green gouache paint and a jar of india ink?!!!

Well mini art doodles of course!!!

The metallic paints I bought through a Facebook advert and almost got scammed - was supposed to be 36 metallic paints but turned out to be 12 metallics and 24 "normal" non metallic paints and they didn't want to refund me.  My credit card company refunded in full and then told the company (in China) they had to provide good reason for the sale to stand.  (they couldn't so the refund stood. I sold that tin on ebay and bought the full set of metallic paint on ebay!!!)  The Derwent box of paint I got on a trip to London before lockdown.  The mini pad I got from the last trip up to London at the end of May this year.  The india ink I bought online and the gouache was in the goodie bag from the company I got the india ink from.

We got a package today!!!

WHAT IS IT?!?!!?

Oh!  It's a metal paint tin!!

And it's got space to put 24 half pans of watercolour paint in the middle!!!

Our other one is already full up and we got four pans of paint to put in the new tin!!
