A walk to the Museum and back

We had builders at Andrea's building today and they were really noisy drilly..... so after work, we went for a walk to clear her head.  We found a rusty square!!

Then we decided to leave some CDs around!!!

We haven't had a Byron's burger for ages......

We've taken Sandy Bear to the Covent Garden Byrons!  That was fun!

Then we went up to Hove Museum and left some more CDs!

That's the museum in the background, the yellow building!

.....never been to the 02 Byrons.....

When we walked past a carpark near Tesco's we met Cat!!!

I remember Cat!!!

Cat's lovely!!!  Cat followed us up the road for a bit because he likes our company!
We love Cat!  He's brill!

On the way, we left this CD here.  Cat even waited for us while we tied it on the railing!!!
He went and jumped on a high wall after that so we waved goodbye!

Then we walked past this fence and left this one here.

The Haymarket Byron's has closed now.  Shame.....

And then we left the last CD of the day here...

I made a mudlarking mosaic!!

Today we got all my mudlarking finds out and decided to make a mosaic out of them!

First of all, I laid out all the pieces to see how big it would be.......
I decided just to use the pottery bits plus the little piece of green glass

Then I got the air drying clay, rolling pin and drinking straw out.

Next thing I did was to roll out the air drying clay.  I needed to use the whole packet!!!

Then I used the drinking straw and jabbed it into one corner.....

And made a hole all the way through.  That's so I can hang it up later when it's finished.

I did the same in the other corner too.

then came the fun bit!!  I got all the pottery shards and put them on top of the clay and then jumped up and down on it until it had sunk in!!!!

That was quite exhausting but Andrea helped out a bit too.  She's good like that!

There!!  That'll do!!!  Now I can just leave that on the window sill until it's completely dry!!!  Don't know how long it'll take though.....

The two bigger pieces of glass that I found on the Thames I decided to keep with my other seaglass and marbles,.

They're all kept in a mustard jar I got in Paris last May!!!

So - that just leaves the pipe stems and weird metal things.  We've already got an idea for the pipe stems though!!!  (more later!)

......and the oyster shell and pebble.  Don't know what we'll do with those!!
But they are pretty....!

Our Mudlarking finds (and cakes!)

Well, after cleaning up all the gloop, we can show you the bits that we found on the Thames!  We found a few pieces of glass.

There were several pieces of blue and white china shards too.

 And patterned pottery too.

There were lots of oyster shells on the river bed too!!

We found a mug handle and some plain white and brown pottery too.

This piece has an interesting pattern along the top!!

this was the top of a pot!!!

We found quite a few of these too - we think they're ends of pipes (the bit you suck the smoke through) that snapped off the bit the tobacco was stuffed into

 and all different lengths too!

I also found two weird rusty metal things with holes in them!!  No idea what they were!!

And this rather vicious looking thing was one of the first bits I picked up!!  We asked another mudlarker what they thought it was, and they said it might be a ship's bracket or sprocket gizmo, like a giant staple thing.  Apparently, it's quite common to find ship-related bits on the bottom of the Thames!
I've decided that I'm going to buy some air-drying clay, and roll it out and press the pottery pieces into it and make a mosaic type thing!

These are what's left of the macarons that me and Alexander had.  But he's not shown anyone the chocolate cake that his mummy got him - we think he ate it before she had a chance to get the camera out!!!
