Winsor & Newton watercolour postcard exhibition

Winsor & Newton are doing a Postcard Art Mail fundraiser!!

So we bought a new watercolour paint from their website and they sent us a free poscard pack....

There's going to be thousands of artists worldwide painting an Art Mail postcard which will all go on an online gallery.  Some of them will be in a big expedition in London and New York!!  After that, they'll all be sold to raise money for Hospital Rooms, who bring therapeutic environments for mental health wards in the UK

The top postcard in the postcard pad is the official "entry" which has a unique code on it and also prepaid postage.  Paint on the other side, register it (with the code) on the Winsor & Newton website and then mail it off.  The other 15 cards we get to keep/use to mail to friends!

So...... what shall we paint?!

We chose an oyster shell, a piece of pottery and a piece of seaglass....

Added a bit more (although using indigo blue instead of oriental blue would've been more accurate!)

Then started putting the shadows in....

And some more shadows

And the final shadows!!!

And we even jazzed up the other side in true mail art fashion!!

We registered our card online and then had a walk and posted it off!

Sandy Bear's Art Deco contest - String Beanie's (very last minute) entry!!

We came to Victoria Coach Station recently and decided this would be our final entry into Sandy's art deco contest!

This is the side exit....

And that's the main entrance to London Victoria Coach station, the largest coach station in London!

It's rather amazing isn't it?!

The architectural partnership Wallis, Gilbert and Partners were commissioned to build it, and was completed in 1932

English Heritage designated he building as Grade 2 listed in 2014 after the freehold owner wanted to redevelop the site and relocate the station operations!  Luckily that didn't happen!

On these windows, you can see a triangular motif on the divides.....

....which is repeated on the windows further down.

There's also a blue plaque on the building...

The architects office were based here until 1946!

Wallis, Gilbert and Partners also designed multiple other Art Deco buildings including multiple buildings on the Great West Road in Brentford Middlesex and also the Abbey Road Studios .... i've head of that before....!

Jerry and Ben's Pumpkin Contest!!

We got a pumpkin to carve up!!!  First we had to cut a hole in the top.....

...and expose the brains.  They gotta get all scooped out next.  

Phew!  That was hard work!!!

We can leave that out for the passing zombies to snack on.....

Right - next we have to carve the eyes.....

This is hard work for small mice.....!

And then finally the mouth.....

And there we are!!  Pumpkin face with warty scar and mouldy tooth!

That works!!!  We'll take another picture tonight when it's proper dark, so you can get the full effect!!
