We finally got to have a day out today!! HURRAH!
First off, up to the bus stop...
....and got off here at the train station.
And, in excellent timing, our train pulled in at exactly the same time we did!!! We gave them a CD.
When we got going, we saw that it was a really foggy day.
Definitely foggy.....
Sun's out.....
But it's foggy.
See what I mean?
Ooo we're coming into London!!
There's the Shard!!
We came into Blackfriars Station.....
...but we didn't get off there.....
We got off at St Pancras!!
We used the facilities and left a floppy disc and then washed our paws forever.
And then it was out onto the Euston Road.
Right ho. What bus are we getting?
AHA!! (it was a 205 but we forgot to take a picture!) We gave them a CD!
And we're off....
Ooo, rainbows!
And then we got off here opposite Liverpool Street Station.
And ended up in Spitalfields Market!!
There's the goat
Oh, and I remember that as well!
THEY'VE GOT ELEPHANTS!!!!!!!
Baby elephants too!!!
Now look at that!
Herd of Hope - there's 20 elephants here now!
Cute huh! We'll have to look for them all now!
And they've all been named!
But first we had to catch up with Richard at the CafeArt calendar stall - he's the chap in the chequered shirt. He's an artist cum photographer cum a lot of other stuff affected by homelessness and we'd brought him some art supplies that we'd found dumped by a communal rubbish bin back home. Much rather he has them than landfill! We had a good ol'catch up with him and then it was time to scoot off.
So then we went and found some more elephants!!
Ooo, that one wants a piggy back ride!!
After we found all the elephants, we came across this weird couple!!
Then it was time to scoot off so we went back to the main road outside Liverpool Street Station.
And found the right bus stop.
BUS BINGO ALERT!! We got another 205 bus!!
They got a CD....
And we're off.....
...going back the way we came....
And got off here! But we're not going home yet....
We're hungry and we're off to find the fish & chippy!!
We left a floppy disc on the way....
And when we got to the fish & chip shop IT WAS CLOSED!!!
IT'S CLOSED ON SUNDAYS!!!
We were really looking forward to fish & chips too!! Well dang-it - what NOW?!
Well, we walked back to the Euston Road thinking if we could get a bus somewhere else for lunch - but we were so starving hungry, we had a look at this place. It's the restaurant inside the Pullman Hotel.
We had a look at the menu - a tad on the pricey side but what the heck - we're STARVING!!
We got some still water and a grown up drink of a glass of wine.
Then we got a massive pot of moules mariniere with toasted sourdough bread and frites. The frites were yum, the sourdough was OK, and the moules were proper slurpy!!!
But still not as good as the moules we had at Leadbellys in Canada Water.
Then we went over the road to get another bus....
BUS BINGO ALERT!!! We got the number 91!!
And we're off....
So where's this taking us, then?
Oh, past the Strand Palace Hotel - those are some fancy lamps eh?!
And we got spit out at Charing Cross Station near Trafalgar Square!
And there was a huge massive crowd there with a big stage and screems!
It's the Chinese New Year - there's a big celebratory performance on!!
Of course, it was also massively busy.....!
So we didn't stick around too long.
And headed back to the bus stop. Which bus now?
BUS BINGO ALERT!! It's the number 15!
They got a CD too!
Spotted some fancy windows over there....
And then we ended up here at St Paul's Cathedral!
Then we crossed the road....
....to another bus stop. Which one now, Jeeves?
BUS BINGO ALERT!! It's the number 17!
They got a CD as well!!
And we're off.....
We're going up the Gray's Inn Road now.
And spotted some public art but weren't quick enough with the camera!
Going through Camden now, over a canal!
Well that's a bit mad!
Ooooo ...... is that art deco??
...maybe....
And then we got on at the very last stop at Archway! Apparently this isn't so far from Highgate Cemetery.
And there's a Starbucks at the end of route - that'll make a bear happy!!
All we had to do then was cross the road to pick up the bus back to the station.
OH!! It's a telephone booth with a tree in it!!!
We only had to wait a while for the 17 bus going the other way!
And we're off!!
OOO! Turkish restaurant over there!!! Looks interesting!
Back over the canal again, at Camden!
And we got off not far from St Pancras train station!!
See? Just round the corner!!
OOOooo!! Can we go shopping?!?!?! (we'll show you later!)
When we got to the station platform, we had about 25 minutes to wait for our train home, but that's OK.
We got a table seat so we're happy!!
After we had a long snooze on the train, we got off at the last stop!!!
And then just had a short wait for the bus home!!
Which spit us out here at the top of our road!
Whoop! That's my dinner sorted..... what are you having?!!!
Wow! Another great trip!!
ReplyDeletemoules mariniere - we had to look that up, although I did have a sneaking suspicion it was clams of some sort... meh.
That Odeon Luxe does look art deco-ish - it was built 1938... maybe it counts?
And a Starbucks - excellent!!
