Bookcrossing an art journal!

Meet the Blank Art Journal, with the BCID 671-12112021 on bookcrossing

Right now, it's blank.  This is going to be sent out through the mail art community for people to doodle in, paint, write and generally play with.
(there's a pocket on the inside front and back covers to stash stuff in, although I may put an old Library Card in the front one for people to check in & out when they receive/pass on)

The larger sheets are pulp paper which, when painted on, the colour will seep through to the other side.  Fellow artists hopefully won't be bothered by that.

The smaller sheets are Khadi paper, sized, and suitable for watercolour washes and pen & ink doodling.

Pulp paper is kinda scrunchy in places.  You can stitch fabric and buttons on it too.
I have some interest in this bookcrossing art journal already but if you'd like to join in, then sign up here.
I'll make another blog when the book has been finished so you can all see the final product.
I hope to send out a little "thank you" to all that take part.

  1. That's a super cool idea! I'm not much of a painter, drawer but... I could try something! Was there supposed to be a link to click to sign up??

  2. You just signed up by leaving your comment!!! I'm in the process of asking around and seeing who's interested first (you're the third definite!) so as soon as I have an idea of that, I'll let you all know!!

  3. Ah! OK... now I just have to put my creative beret on my head!

  4. Well the good thing about this project is that the taking part is way more appreciated than standards of painting. If you just want to write in your favourite recipe, that's fine!!!

  5. Sounds good... maybe I'll try a self-portrait of me! But not a nude... nobody needs to see my little bare bear bum! That's a Bob T. Bear thing!

  6. Ooh, what a great idea. You can add us to the list. As Beanie already knows, Jerry does like to draw. Is there a theme for the Journal, or can you do whatever you want?

  7. You can do whatever you want!!! The only rule is don't use plants, seeds, wood or food - it's going to Australia and they don't let in any of those items, very strict about it. But so long as it's paper, glue, paint, buttons, fabric and stuff like that, anything goes!! No poo though!

  8. Oh that's helpful to know! No fall leaves! Or honey either I guess...

  9. Hehe, Jerry wouldn't let Ben use any honey for doing artwork, it's far too valuable on our toast in the morning! hehe

  10. No, but sometimes little bears come to their artwork with honey paws... at least one little bear does. Maybe you guys are tidier!
