We got a letter from Arntie Isabelle this week!!!!!
She's gone to Bunol in Spain!! That's near the Mediterranean sea, that is.
They have a big festival there where they smoosh tomatoes over each other!!! Like, everyone gets completely COVERED head to toe in smooshed tomatoes!!!!
There's the map - see how close it is to the sea?
And there's the field notes. They have a castle there too!
We got a package today all the way from Budapest!!! Wonder what's in it....?
OOoooo! There's a card on top......
See?! It's from our friend Amarillis! We went to visit her a few years ago!
She wrote a note in coloured ink! I like that colour!
Oh wow!! Brown wrapping paper to make more books with! Hurrah!
Oh wow!!! Postcards of her paintings!!!
Think I like that one best...... it's got gold and silver leaf on it!
Blue tissue paper!!! We can recycle that as well! And more brown paper stuffing at the bottom of the package too!! How nice of Amarillis to send us all this!
Oh wow!!! We got one of her paintings as well!!
How fab is that!!!
We've put it here next to Tony Curtis' painting because he's a Hungarian as well.
We got a package today...... wonder what it is? We're not expecting anything.....
OH!!! OH WOW!!!
It's another Beanie that's found its way to our house!!! And he brought choklit to nibble and a prezzie for Andrea!!!!!!!!
Everyone ran over to say hallo!! We're not too sure who he is yet but we think it might be Kidney Beanie..... he got rather squished the the post and the inside of the packaging was damp so we think he peed himself on the way. But that's OK, he's here now and we can go and eat the choklit be brought! That'll cheer him up!!! (although we're a bit surprised he didn't eat it on the way....)
We had a day out today, and Tango came too! Which is really exciting because he doesn't normally come out on trips. 'bout time, really......!!!
So, we went up to the bus stop.......
And Tango tied the first floppy disc of the day to the hand rail!
We're off! Wonder where we're going today......
Oh! Train station! Excellent!
We had enough time to use the facilities and washed our paws carefully for half an hour. We left them a CD!
Then it was time to get on our train!! We got a window seat and Tango left another CD on the handrail!
We're off!!!
Andrea forgot to make a video of this bit!!!
OOOOoooo! Is this London?? Is it??
It is!! That's the Shard!!
We're going past London Bridge and Borough Market here.....
And here, we're coming into Blackfriars Station. But we didn't get off here.....
We got off here at St Pancras!!!
Right, we're off this way now.
We used the facilities and left them a CD. Then we carefully washed our paws for half an hour.
LADUREE??!! How do I get in???!!
YUMMMMMMMMM!!!!
We didn't eat all of them but they're a little squished. They didn't have any little boxes to put the macarons in, you see. Now, we're on the Euston Road. Where to next, Jeeves?
We went this way and saw a metallic red Rolls Royce car.
And behind that was parked a metallic pink De Lorean car.
We've come to see Paddington Bear at the British Library!!! He's a Legend!!!
Our ticket said we can go in at 11 am and we're a bit early, so we had time to leave a floppy disc here!
And a CD here!
Tango made some Paddington poster poses!!
He's loving this!!!
Then we went in and sat on the book bench!
Right - here we go!!
Down here......
That's Paddington's suitcase!!!
There's his scrapbook!!!
And a model of his front door!!!!
Tango started practising his Hard Stare for the Olympics!
What do you think?
Paddington has nice paw-writing!
That's his letter to his arntie in Peru!
Ah, right. More Hard Stare practise...
Even Andrea had a go. I think Tango's Hard Stare is better though.
OH!! Paddington bear goes on adventures and expeditions, just like we do!!!
Those are the Paddington Bear 50p coins!! We've got some of those! Not all of them yet, but some of them!
We had our picture taken with Paddington spilling a tin of paint!!!
After we had a good look round the expedition (it was really interesting!) we used the facilities and left a CD on the door. After we washed our paws carefully for half an hour......
....we checked out the gift shop (we'll show you later!) and then tootled off for the next part of our expedition!
Love that sculpture!!
Right. Bus Bingo alert!!!
We got the number 73 bus!!!!!
And we're off!!!
Tango tied a floppy disc to the hand rail!
There's a stick man painted on the column there!!! How funny!!
We got off here at Islington Green! What are we doing here?
We walked across the green.....
And found the memorial benches for Street Cat Bob!!!!! I got so excited, I fell over backwards!!!
Here he is!!!! Sitting on a pile of his books!!!
Oh wow!!! This is brilliant!!!
We love this memorial! It's brilliant!
See? Told you he was sitting on a pile of his books!
That's a very Bob-ish look, don't you think?
That's opened at the chapter "Angel Heart" (Angel underground station is just down the road, where they sold the Big Issue) and you can see the writing!
Love it....!
And that's the other bench on the other side.
We left another floppy disc on the fence behind the memorial.....
And then went to the Cass Art shop!!! We had a good browse round - we'll show you later what we got!
They got a floppy disc too!!
Then we wandered back through Islington Green and spotted an interesting piece of skyline!
We left a CD at the other end of the green.....
.....and then came here for lunch!!!! Street Burger Gordon Ramsay! This used to be a Byron Burger place but that burger chain collapsed during the main Covid lockdown last year. Gordon Ramsay has started taking over some of the old Byron premises to make his own burger chain so we thought we'd give it a try. Gotta have a good burger sometimes.
The inside has been grafitti painted - it's kinda fun!
We got a soda from the machine at the front - we can go help ourselves to more as often as we want!
What - butternut bhaji burger??? What the heck???! That's not a burger!
IT'S PIGGIN' EPIC!!!!!! I love bhaji burgers!!!!! And the seasoned fries are fabulous too!!!
Oh we're coming here again! This is BRILL!
After that fantabulous lunch we had to get another bus back into town...... Bus Bingo alert! It's the number 476!!
This bus got a CD with a purple butterfly on it!!
And we're off!
Wonder where we're headed now??
OH!! We went past a red gorilla!!!! Hahahaa!
We got off here!!!!!
Just round the corner from St Pancras!!!
We decided to walk back there to use the facilities just to be sure we didn't leak on a bus and we left them a CD on the door hanger!!! Of course, we washed our paws carefully for half an hour afterwards....
And then went over to Caledonian Road.....
Now then - which one do we get this time?
Bus Bingo alert! We're getting the number 17 bus!!!
They got a CD as well!
Wonder where we're going now?
There's a big sign that says "explore"!! That's what we're doing! We're Explorers on an expedition!
We went past a lovely big red brick building.....
And then got off here at St Paul's Cathedral!!!! Oh wow!!
We left a bookcrossing book in the courtyard at the back of the cathedral....
THAT TREE HAS GOOGLY EYES IN IT!!!!!!
Oh that's hilarious!!!
We found a word on the street, too.
There's another tree with googly eyes!!!
There was a bit protest thing at the front of the cathedral about climate change. We helped them shout. We're good at shouting.
There's another word!!! I wonder if there's a bunch of these that make up a phrase? We're going to have to come back and find out!
Anyway, we then walked down the road a bit to City Thameslink station - it's time to come home!
Goodbye London!! Thanks for a fabulous day out!! That was brilliant!
And we only had 6 minutes to wait for our train!! Perfect!
And we even got a table seat by the window!!! Excellent!
This is the Blackfriars station again!! You can see the Walkie Talkie building, and Tower Bridge and the Shard and the Tate Modern!!!
We tied a CD on here too!
We're going through London Bridge and Borough Market now.... interesting view huh?!
We're going past Southwark Cathedral here!
It started raining on the way home, too
We can't even see the hills in the distance because the low-flying rain clouds are in the way!!!
And we're back!!!
And it was a short wait for our bus back home!
Tis very soggy out there now.....
So we had to make a bit of a mad dash down the road to get home!!! We managed to leave this floppy disc here though!
And then started running down the road!!
And left another floppy disc here!!
And we're back home!!! We're a bit damp but we're home!! We put our slightly boshed macaron in a proper box - they're proper yummy!
These are the postcards we got from the British Library
We got Paddington Bear bookmarks and pin badges
And we got a British Library ticket holder, little blue "book" eraser and a red key chain.
The key chain has a light that turns on when you press the silver button!!!
And this is something called granulation medium that we got from the art shop, and you use it with watercolour paints. We can try that this weekend!!!
