We went bookcrossing in Lewes!!!

Andrea said we were going out again today.  So we went up the road.....

....to the bus stop and didn't have to wait long for a bus!

We got off here and then a minute later, another bus turned up which we got on.  It was a very busy bus so we didn't take any pictures....

But we got off here in Lewes High Street!!!  I've been to Lewes before but we're going to have a proper look round today.

First of all we went to the carsol!!

We got in free with our Art Pass too so that was over £7 we saved!!  We had to use this magnetic key thing to get in which we had to give back.

They had a little scale model of what the carsol used to look like.  They had one of these in Budapest too!

I've been sent to the Tower!!!

They had a big Russian Cannon too but that's got nothing to do with the carsol.

Oh wow!!!  That's a lot of stairs!!

But we got to pick our own weeds on the way up!!!

But then half way up, Andrea's legs went all wobbly.  Her legs are right cowards sometimes, you know.

That's a big tower - wouldn't want to be locked up in there you know.

We left a bookcrossing book for them before we left, though.

 It's quite impressive you know.....

And then we starting walking towards something else Andrea wanted to see.  We found a drain cover for locking up elf.  That's not very nice, what did Dobby ever do?

We found this one too, near a park

And then we found this shop - we went in and it was full of hand made stuff like quilts and blown glass earrings and brooches and pottery and paintings and they were wonderful!!!

They even had a mouse in it!!!!!!!!!!!
We couldn't afford him though.....

Then we went down this way.....

And found the Anne of Cleves museum!!!  She was one of Henry the 8th's wives.  Don't think she got her head chopped off but I'm not sure.

We went in and they said we had a free entry with the Art Pass here too!!!!  That's a £5.60 saving!  Wow!

 Gosh it's pretty in here.....

 That's the kitchen cooker.....

And these are the kitchen gardens.....

 there's the vegetable plot.....

 Coo....

We left a book on one of the benches in the garden!

On the way out, we bought some stuff in the gift shop and then left another bookcrossing book hanging on a railing!!

And then we went back the way we came.....

only this time we went through the park instead of round it!

And we left our last book on a bench in the park!

It was near this very old tree that nobody's allowed to climb on.

And THEN we had to climb back up a very steep hill!!

Then we walked along the High Street past this sign.....

And had a look inside this shop!!!  It was bleedin' expensive too!!!

That's the South Downs in the distance there.....

 Then we went past here....

 To the Flea Market!!!
They had loads of fun stuff in there, you know!!

 Including these indoor drain covers!!!

Could've bought a soot of armour you know..... I'd look good in one of them.

Then we started getting hungry so we decided to come home....

 And we're off.....!!

We got off at this bus stop and got another bus.....

 .....that took us up here.....

And then we got off and it was a short walk home!!

OOooh, we got some shortbread from the Anne of Cleves house!!  I'm sure they'd go very well with Horrids hot chocolate you know....... I'm sure they would......

  1. Wow... Elf Locking... I shudder to think what is inside that drainhole cover! You had a grand adventure though - I love taking tours of England with you. Hmmm... you could set up SE England Stuffie Tours!
