Another photo update!!!

We've just finished putting all the pictures back on our day trip to Winchester!!!
It's here Winchester

We won a prize!!

Today we collected a package from the Mail Sorting Office up the road.

 It's for me!!!

It's for the Grand Prize Winners ME!!!!

It had a map of part of Europe showing the route our friend Asta (she's a fuzzy doggie!!) had taken from Budapest in Hungary to Verona in Italy!  We had to guess where they were going and what countries they'd have to go through to get there!

Asta wrote on a card for us!!

 It's a pretty card too!!!

They sent us some tickets they'd bought in Verona from places they'd visited!!!

and I think this is the prize...... what is it???

 OOOOOOOOooooooooooooohhhhhh!!!

OOHHHH!!!  It's an accordion book!!!  It's made by Fabriano who's a famous art paper maker!!!

I love it!!!!!!!

An evening out...

This morning Andrea took me into work.  She said I had to help with Some Important Stuff
After we'd finished doing the boring work stuff, we set off to find the Important Stuff!  How exciting!!

We found a drinking establishment where they don't like Barthin'!  I think Bob would like it in there!!!

We found a funny fish too!

And then we found a Space Ship!!!  Oh how exciting!!!

Let's have a ride in it!!!!!

 WE HAVE LIFTOFF!!!  HUZZAH!

We found a new painted cable box too!!!

Then we went to the Pier and met our friend, who'd been to London for the day!

We played some arcade games and WE WON!!!!  I won an apple and my friend won two cupcakes!!  She gave one to me!  (she's nice like that!!

Then we went over the road to Harry Ramsdens for dinner!!!

Andrea let me have a beer all to myself!!!  Hic...!

And then we had fish and chips for dinner!  It was yummy!!!  Because our friend had given us one of her cupcakes, we gave her our horseradish sauce and mushy peas.  (we're good like that....!)
After that, we got the bus home.....

And we met two cats on our way back from the bus stop!!  We said hello to them!

They're pretty!!!

Update on the photo recovery!!!

After finding my photo CDs the other day from blog posts that I'd deleted the pictures off, I have now replaced all the pictures from our day out to Portsmouth!!

It's here - Trip to Portsmouth

New Storage!!

We've started looking for new storage boxes for home..... this big plastic tub used to be by my bed, and we got it about 15 years ago when we moved in here!!!

This weekend, we found some rather nice boxes with an old fashioned map of the world printed over it with postage stamps and post-marks on from all over the world!!  The entire contents of the plastic tub fit very nicely into the larger box here (OK, so we had to bin a few things that we haven't used for ..... a long time!!)

And then the smaller box on top now has all my bookcrossing books in it waiting to be read!!!

And the REALLY REALLY exciting bit was when we were emptying the big plastic tub, we found lots of photo CDs of some of our trips away.....

And they're all photos that we accidentally deleted off the blogs last year!  I found the pictures again!!!!!  So now, I can put all the pictures back on the blog!  I'm so HAPPYYYYY!!!

After work today, Andrea said we were going out for dinner!!

We went to Orsino's for dinner!!  Are we meeting Sir Woodstock again?!

OH!  That's not Sir Woodstock...... that's his terrier doggie!!!  We didn't quite catch her name but she was ever so lovely!!!

And well behaved too!!  Didn't poo on the table..... very impressed!

We had the Marinara pizza again which  was yummers, and a glass of wine..... and after stuffing our faces, we decided to meet up for fish & chips on Monday and then came home!!  It was fun to meet a friendly doggie!

Movie review - "Mr Turner"

Movie review number 40

PLOT
This movie charts the life of JMW Turner, English artist of the 1700s and stars Timothy Spall in the title role.
The movie starts with Turner returning to London from a trip to Utrecht in the Netherlands, and back to his London studio which he shares with his father.  His father makes up oil paint for Turner, buying the pigment from the "colourmen" - what we'd now call an art shop!  Turner's wife arrives and whinges at him that he hasn't been to see his family or kept up with his children.
Later, Turner visits the seaside town of Margate and rents a top floor room in a building that faces the sea from a lady called Mrs Booth, who later becomes his mistress.  This becomes a second home for him, and he spends most of time there.
The movie also shows various interactions at the Royal Academy, with Turner giving a lecture, and also taking part in various exhibitions, where he encounters Mr Ruskin, a rather posh pretentious art critic (who later promotes the Preraphaelite artists, shown towards the end of the movie) and Turner at one point has a good crack at making Ruskin look a total prat.  (which he potentially was!!) Towards the end of the movie, a Very Rich Man offers to buy all of Turners painting off him for £20,000 but Turner tells him to bugger off because he's leaving them to the nation.  They're currently (still!) on show at the Tate Britain in London.
The movie ends with Turner returning to Margate, falling ill and ultimately dying.

(Ed's note: A Prat is English terminology for idiot: similar to twat)
(Another Ed's note: the movie scene with Ruskin in it talks about another artist called Mr Claude.  We went to see an expedition on London about Turner and Claude here which briefly explains who he is!)

RECOMMENDED
This is a VERY long movie - well over 2 hours, and I found it too long and the last hour of it didn't hold my attention.  I'm rather surprised I sat through to the end, to be honest, and was tempted to turn it off about 45 minutes before actual ending.

SCORE
Three squeaks out of ten, purely for historical accuracy.

SCOOBY SNACKS

We made savoury brioche!!

Last night we made up some savoury brioche dough and we cooked it this morning!!!  We've never made savoury brioche before but what we did was to leave out the sugar altogether, and instead we put in oregano, chopped up chives, mustard powder and three garlic cloves and some parmesan cheese!
We think the white bit in the middle of the top pic is the parmesan.

We've already eaten half of one loaf for lunch.  Its yummers!!!

Bob and Dilly Mail!!!

We got a postcard today - and it was from Bob and Dilly to all of us!!!

So I called over Tango and George and we had a proper read of his card!!!  He's been Tracktor spotting in Jersey!!!!

And they've had good weather too!  Thanks Bob and Dilly!!!
